A group exploring Zion in 1916 came upon a great monolith. Frederick Fisher exclaimed, "only an angel could land on it."

CONSIDERATIONS
- near the top, the ridge is only a few yards wide, sheer drop-offs on either side
- at least 5 people have fallen to their death
including 28-year-old Bernadette Vander Meer in 2006
- support chains provide a little reassurance
- do not climb if there is any risk of lightning storm
- exposed to sun and wind
- carry enough water
- vehicle entrance fee to the Park was US$20 in 2006

LOGISTICS
- the closest major airport is Las Vegas International, 150mi (241km) from the park
- smaller airport in St. George, UT, 46mi (74km) away
- there is no public transportation to the park
- Springdale, Utah (pop. 500) is the jumping off town for Zion
- the Park shuttle bus will deliver you to the trailhead near Grotto picnic area
- start early morning if you think mid-day will be hot
